Where to Find Luxury at Walt Disney World

If you are a luxury traveler or someone who enjoys the finer things in life when you travel, you will pleased to know that luxury—Disney style—is not hard to find at Walt Disney World Resort.

5 Luxurious Walt Disney World Resort Hotels

The Deluxe category of Walt Disney World Resort hotels is the largest and most desirable category of on-site resort properties. All Disney Deluxe Resorts and Villas are on the upper end of the accommodation spectrum, featuring top-tier room appointments, service and resort amenities.

Within this large group of upscale accommodations, there are a few top picks that reflect what many would define as traditional luxurious surroundings and upscale ambiance.

If it is luxury that you seek, here are my top picks for where to find luxury among the Disney Deluxe Resorts.

The lobby area at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort has an immense amount of space in which to relax and soak in the Victorian ambiance.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

The lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is the pinnacle of luxury at Walt Disney World. Victorian opulence is reflected in the overall design, from the lamps and lighting, to the decor and furniture and even the elevator that looks out over the lobby. This grand area also features live music, including a pianist on the main floor and a live band on the second level overlooking the lobby in the evening. Relaxing here with a cocktail and soaking in the ambiance after a fun day on the go is Disney luxury at its finest.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort has an upscale feel of its own that will appeal to those who prefer the private club setting. The lobby here has a yacht club nautical look and feel, complete with compasses and model ships, herring bone wood floors and comfy chairs that you would expect to find in the finest of east coast private yacht clubs.

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn

Across Crescent Lake from Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Boardwalk Inn offers a more elegant approach to luxury. Disney describes the style here as “charm and whimsy of turn-of-the-century Atlantic City.” This translates into a setting of refined charm, featuring hardwood floors, elegant lighting, coffered ceilings and tropical ferns next to comfy upholstered seating areas.

Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Rustic Luxury lobby

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Luxury can be defined in many ways. At Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, luxury is an upscale nod to the grand national park lodges of the Pacific Northwest. Luxury here comes in the form of a stunningly impressive oversize wood-laden lobby featuring massive wood beams and totems that are clearly meant to inspire the grand lodge feel. There is no question that you have walked into a luxury resort property when you enter the lobby of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, lobby

The lobby at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge reflects the great amount of work that Disney Imagineers put into its creation.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge you will find a twist on the Wilderness Lodge approach. Again, the lobby is meant to inspire awe among first-time visitors and that it does with much success. Wood posts and adornments reflect African themes and artwork, while grandiose African savanna-inspired lighting helps to reinforce the mood that you have walked right into a luxury resort on another continent. Dark floors, themed furniture and other African adornments complete the picture of this luxurious Deluxe Disney property.

Little Luxuries at Walt Disney World

Beyond the Disney resort hotels themselves, little luxuries are all around Walt Disney World Resort. Five of the most popular little luxuries among my luxury travel clients include:

  • Spa treatments at the Senses Spas (Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa; Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa)
  • Private Poolside Cabanas (Disney’s Contemporary Resort; Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa)
  • VIP Tours (all Parks)
  • Yacht Cruises (Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa)
  • Tea Parties (Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa)
