Five Cinderella Secrets to Discover in Disney's Magic Kingdom Park

One of the great things about Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park is that it is filled with many secrets and hidden gems, but there are five in particular that will be of great interest to fans of Cinderella and Disney Princesses.

The next time you visit Disney’s Magic Kingdom, keep an eye out for these five hidden gems that are all related to Cinderella herself. Not surprisingly, they are all conveniently located very close to Cinderella Castle so you won’t have to go very far to find them all.

Cinderella Chair

1. The Cinderella Chair

The Cinderella Chair is one of my personal favourites. This unassuming royal chair used to sit quietly beside a doorway inside what was Castle Couture behind Cinderella Castle. This has transitioned to a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique location. So where is the chair now? You'll have to search to find this hidden gem.

Cinderella Fountain

2. Cinderella Fountain

Located right outside the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique setup area across from Cinderella Castle is the majestic and royal Cinderella Fountain. While this is a very popular spot for photos, many guest don’t realize that there is a hidden secret to this creation that came from the minds of some very creative Disney Imagineers (as if there were any other kind?).

When looking at the fountain from the front, if you get down on one knee as if to bow before the Royal Princess you will be at a special angle that will reveal a hidden secret: Cinderella appears to be wearing the crown that adorns the artwork on the wall behind the statue.

The Cinderella Fountain is one of several unique sightline hidden gems located in Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park (there is another excellent one over at Princess Ariel's Voyage of the Little Mermaid). So be sure to take a moment to appreciate the magic and capture a picture of the illusion for yourself.

Cinderella's Carousel Horse

3. Cinderella’s Carrousel Horse

Just about everyone loves to take a ride on the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel located right behind Cinderella Castle. But did you know that Cinderella has a very special horse on the carrousel that is her personal favourite? It’s not always easy to find (or to get for your very own ride), but keep your eyes alert for a horse with a golden ribbon tied around it’s tail. As the story goes, this is Cinderella’s favourite horse on the Carrousel, which she marked with a ribbon so that she would be able to find it from among all the others.

Take a ride on this very special horse and you will have a magical story to share. And don’t forget to capture of a photo of yourself on this horse if you do! No doubt that Mary Poppins herself would be quite proud of you.

Cinderella's Wishing Well

4. Cinderella’s Wishing Well

Located on the right side of the castle (when you approach from Main Street USA) on the pathway towards Tomorrowland (accessible from behind the castle) you will find Cinderella’s quaint wishing well.

Many guests who walk this pathway tend to stroll right by (usually in a hurry) without ever giving it a thought or a second look. However, it’s worth taking the time to stop by Cinderella’s wishing well to appreciate the story that is told in its carvings and enjoy the surroundings. It can actually be a bit of a quiet spot at times, as this pathway is not as well travelled as other routes in the park. Then, be sure to make a wish and toss a coin into the well before heading on your way to explore more of the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom. Rumour has it that these coins are collected on a regular basis and donated to children’s charities.

Cinderella's Jaq and Gus Gus.

Cinderella’s Mice Friends.

5. Cinderella’s Mice Friends

For this one, you will need to step inside of Cinderella Castle on your way to a regal meal at Cinderella’s Royal Table.

After you check in for your meal, you will escorted into the foyer of the castle. Here you will meet your hostess Cinderella and pose for a photo before heading upstairs to the Royal dining room. Don’t forget to look up when you are in the foyer, however, because it is here that this final hidden gem awaits you. Perched high upon a concrete ledge looking down on the proceedings are none other than everyone’s favourite royal mice (I don’t count Mickey and Minnie as Royal Mice): Jaq and Gus. Most guests will miss this gem because they won’t look up.

So always be on the alert wherever you are on Disney property, because you never know what you may find.
