Three Top Rooms for your Walt Disney World Bucket List

With so many interesting upscale resorts from which to choose, Walt Disney World offers a lot of variety when it comes to luxury accommodations and unique rooms.

Over the past 50 years or so of Disney travel experience, I have stayed in my fair share of rooms at Disney’s Deluxe Resorts and Villas. Not surprisingly, I have developed a list of my all-time favourites—my go-to list of Walt Disney World room choices that I jump on whenever I get the opportunity to stay in one of these top picks.

If you don’t travel frequently to Walt Disney World, but are looking for suggestions on the best-of-the-best Disney hotel rooms, these are the ones that I would recommend as top choices for a Walt Disney World vacation (not including suites).

Top Picks for Your Walt Disney World Hotel Rooms Bucket List

Boat approaching Disney's Bora Bora Bungalows

The Bora Bora Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are the top accommodations on my Walt Disney World bucket list.

1. Bora Bora Bungalow, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Hands down, a Bora Bora Bungalow at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is my number one pick as the top place to stay at Walt Disney World.

These over-the-water bungalows mimic the real deal in Bora Bora, after which they were presumably modelled. The Bora Bora Bungalows feature all of the modern conveniences, amenities and Disney Magic that you’d expect to find in an accommodation that pushes US$3,000 a night. These two-bedroom standalone buildings rival the best of urban condominiums, with everything you’d need to live here on a full-time basis. If only that were a possibility…

You can read more about these spectacular accommodations in my full review of the Bora Bora Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

2. Royal Palm Club, Theme Park View, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

Before the Bora Bora Bungalows arrived on the scene and stole my heart, a Club Level Room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort was my top pick. Given the price of the bungalows, the Grand Floridian Club Level Rooms remain a more attainable option for repeated stays and are a worthy accommodation for your Walt Disney World bucket list.

The ideal choice here are the Theme Park View, Club Level Rooms in the Royal Palm Club, which is the Club Level area located in the main building at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort (there is a second Club Level section in the Sugar Loaf outer building). For my money, it doesn’t get any more magical and luxurious than staying in one of these rooms in Walt Disney World’s premier Deluxe Resort hotel.

Copper Creek Villas, Cascade Cabins

3. Cascade Cabin, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

The third entry on the Walt Disney World bucket list is also the newest accommodation. Modelled after the Bora Bora Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, the Cascade Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge are a luxury respite that feature all the comforts of an upscale home, with the design ambiance of a rustic cabin somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.

Make no mistake though, there is nothing missing from these well-designed and cozy woodland cabins. You can easily fit the whole family in here and your privacy will be unrivalled — right down to your own private all-season hot tub. All of this luxury comes at a price, however. While not quite as expensive as the Bora Bora Bungalows, the Cascade Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will still set you back quite a bit. To put it into perspective, the cost of three nights here would get you roughly an entire week in a Club Level Room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. But if you like the wilderness ambiance and want to have your own entire cabin to yourself, then the Cascade Cabins may be just what you’re looking for.
