Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island: The Resort of Choice on Amelia Island

While we love to travel to Florida for Walt Disney World vacations, it should come as no surprise that Florida also has its fair share of luxurious beach resorts. When it comes to luxurious ocean front beach resorts in Florida, there are none more welcoming than the incredible beach front paradise that you will find at the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island.

A Beautiful Resort on a Pristine Barrier Island

Located on the beautiful barrier island of Amelia Island, the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island is an easy 45-minute drive from the Jacksonville airport. The property is located on a very private stretch of beach directly facing the Atlantic Ocean. One of the most appealing aspects of this whole picture is that you get the relative untouched wilds of an uncrowded beach with all the modern day luxuries you expect from a Ritz Carlton Resort property.

The Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island features 446 guest rooms, which includes both suites and Club Level options. While there is much in the way of local dining worth discovering during your stay, the resort also offers four onsite restaurants of its own, plus a lobby bar.

Guest rooms are warm and welcoming and offer rooms in three view categories. None of these are poor choices, but the ocean front rooms are particularly desirable. All rooms feature private balconies (or a terrace), one king or two double beds, marble baths (with plush bathrobes, by the way) and much more. But with so much to see and do at the resort and on Amelia Island, you probably won’t be spending too much time in your luxurious room.

The Ritz Offers Activities for Family Members of All Ages

In addition to the mile-and-a-half of Atlantic Ocean beach, the Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island features an 18-hole PGA golf course, a spa, full service salon, 24 hour fitness centre, indoor and outdoor heated pools, tennis courts, a children’s pool and much more. There is even a convenient shuttle service that takes you to the historic area of Fernandina Beach (If you don’t have a car or prefer not to drive).

One of the Best Kept Secrets in Florida Travel

I particularly like how the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island has embraced the local pirate lore, right down to the daily Pirate Toast. Kids will enjoy the treasure hunt and other activities created just for them. While the hotel has no less than five shops onsite (including the only standalone Lilly Pulitzer shop in Northern Florida), there is also a world of local and quaint shops in the surrounding area for you to explore.

All in all, the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island is one of the best kept secrets in Florida and it is highly worth visiting this property and Amelia Island. Even though it’s a Ritz Carlton, it is not stuffy at all (in fact, they didn’t even blink an eye when I carried a surfboard through the lobby).

Are You Planning a Luxury Vacation to Amelia Island, Florida?

Amelia Island is one of my personal favorite Florida destinations (in fact, we named our daughter after it), and the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island is without question the only place to stay here.

Best of all, for the Walt Disney World traveler looking for an upscale beach getaway in Florida, Amelia Island is only a short(ish) hop away from Orlando.
