Disney Little Luxuries: A Morning Walk on the Beach at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

One of the many charms of Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is that it’s away from the general hustle and bustle of the Disney Parks at Walt Disney World in Orlando. You still get the comfortable Disney hospitality here that you are use to, but the pace of life is much slower and more relaxed.

If you are looking for a Disney beach vacation in Florida, this is where you need to go.

Magical Mornings: if you can get the kids out of bed, sunrise is a magical time to be on the beach.

While there are many great things to do onsite (and nearby offsite), one of my favorite things to do at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is to take an early morning walk on the beach.

Sunrise on the Beach: One of Life’s Little Luxuries

Sunrise on the beach at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is one of the Disney little luxuries that you just can’t find anywhere else. The key is getting to the beach just at the crack of dawn — a little before sunrise. If you visit in the summer months of July and August, then 6:30 a.m. is a good time to aim for.

You don’t find a lot of driftwood at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, but now and then something will wash up on shore.

The beach in the morning is a magical place. There will be a few other beachcombers, but usually not many. On a typical morning you may see the Disney Conservation Cast Members surveying the beach to locate and mark the sea turtle nesting activity from the night before. If you’re lucky, you may even encounter a hatchling baby turtle making it’s way into the sea. Occasionally some fisherman will be casting from the shoreline looking for the catch of the day. And, of course, shell hunting is a great morning pastime during the early hours.

Mother Nature’s real show will come at some time just before 7:00 a.m. when the sun begins to peek above the horizon. The sunrises at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort are one of my favorite things about this property. There is usually a spectacular show and it makes for some amazing photos, regardless of your technical capabilities with a camera.

But the morning beach walks have a lot more to offer. You can walk, run or shell hunt for a mile in either direction and barely encounter anyone at all. By the time the sun begins to rise over the horizon, this will change, so take advantage of the dawn hour and enjoy of the little luxuries that you’ll find at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort.

Sometimes you get lucky and discover a baby sea turtle hatchling on the beach in the morning.

Traveler Tip: Noseeum bugs are a harsh reality in this little piece of paradise. These nearly invisible biting bugs will be active on the beach at this time, so be sure to spray your legs, arms and exposed skin with a good, strong bug spray to keep the bugs at bay.
