The Best Hotels at Walt Disney World: Disney’s Top Luxury Resorts
Nine Walt Disney World Resort Hotels Receive 2017 AAA Four Diamond Rating
When it comes to picking the best hotels at Walt Disney World Resort, there is no shortage of top contenders. With so many great choices from which to choose, luxury Disney travellers tend to have their personal favourite picks.
One of the most respected third-party rating systems in the travel industry is the AAA Diamond Rating. Each year, AAA assesses nearly 28,000 hotels and resorts to develop its annual list of the Diamond Award recipients.
For 2017, there are no less than nine Walt Disney World Resort Hotels on the AAA list of Four Diamond Rated properties.
The nine Walt Disney World Resort hotels receiving the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award Rating for 2017 are:
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (4 Diamond Rated since 1989)
- Disney’s Yacht Club Resort (4 Diamond Rated since 1991)
- Disney’s Beach Club Resort (4 Diamond Rated since 2003)
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort (4 Diamond Rated since 2007)
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (4 Diamond Rated since 2007)
- Disney’s Boardwalk Inn (4 Diamond Rated since 2009)
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Jambo House (4 Diamond Rated since 2011)
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village (4 Diamond Rated since 2011)
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (4 Diamond Rated since 2013)
The brackets indicate the year that each hotel received its first AAA Four Diamond Rating and has consecutively appeared on the list. With 18 consecutive years as a AAA Four Diamond Rated property, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is (not surprisingly) the longest-running luxury resort at Walt Disney World. It should also come as no surprise that all hotels on the list fall into Disney’s Deluxe category of hotels and villas.
Only 5.9% of the 28,000 hotels and resorts inspected for AAA Diamond Award consideration actually receive a Four Diamond Award Rating, so this is quite an achievement for these luxury Disney resort hotels.
AAA Five Diamond Rated Resort
I should also note that there is one Resort on property that actually received the AAA Five Diamond Rating: The Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World. While this is not a Disney owned and operated resort and you do not get certain privileges associated with Disney-owned hotels, this luxury resort property is located on Disney property in close proximity to the Magic Kingdom Resort area.
How the AAA Diamond Ratings are Awarded
According to AAA, the “AAA Diamond ratings for hotels represent a combination of the overall quality, range of facilities, and level of services offered by the property. The descriptive ratings are assigned exclusively to properties that meet and uphold AAA’s rigorous Approval standards.”
In the case of the Four Diamond Award, AAA describes the hotel recipients in this category as having the following qualities:
“Refined, stylish with upscale physical attributes, extensive amenities and a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail.”
