Why Would You Stay in a Walt Disney World Deluxe Villa?
When you travel to Walt Disney World Resort I always recommend that you stay onsite at a Disney Deluxe Resort hotel. Not only does staying onsite add to the immersive experience of your Disney vacation, but there are several extra benefits available only to guests of Disney Resort hotels.
Most travelers are familiar with the range of traditional Disney hotel properties, but what about the Disney Deluxe Villas? What are they and why would you stay in one?
Deluxe Villas at Walt Disney World Resort
Disney Deluxe Villas are a separate category of accommodations that are part of the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) suite of properties. DVC is Disney’s version of a timeshare program. DVC members are the most likely guests to stay at these properties, but they are available for booking by non-members, space permitting. I often describe the Deluxe Villas as being similar to renting a condominium, so think of these as Deluxe Disney condos.
Most of these properties are linked to a corresponding Walt Disney World Deluxe Resort, but there are a few standalone properties as well (including a few at locations beyond Walt Disney World). In fact, one of the most desirable accommodation options in all of Walt Disney World Resort is a Deluxe Villa accommodation: the Bora Bora Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. There are also other very unique options in this category as well, such as the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.

So what is the difference between Disney Deluxe Villas and Disney traditional hotel rooms, and why would you stay in one?
Three Reasons Why You Might Stay in a Disney Deluxe Villa
1. No Availability at a Disney Deluxe Resort
If there is no availability at the Disney Deluxe Resort hotel of your choice–and you really want to stay there–you can look into availability at the corresponding Deluxe Villa accommodations. For example, if you really wanted to stay in a Studio at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, but there were none available, you can check availability at a Studio Deluxe Villa, also at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
You will still be onsite at the same Deluxe Disney Resort property with the same benefits as you would have in a traditional hotel room. Plus, you will have a few little extras that come with a Deluxe Villa (such as kitchenette facilities — see below).
2. You Have a Large Family or Group
If you have a larger family (let’s say six or seven people–even up to 10 people) or you are a group or two families traveling together, it can sometimes be challenging to find space at a traditional Disney Deluxe Resort hotel. You either need to have two rooms or a suite.
Most Deluxe Villa properties have several room configurations (two bedroom, three bedroom and more) in higher numbers than a traditional resort hotel. So if you find yourself needing more space for whatever reason, Disney Deluxe Villas are an ideal option to compare with what is available in the traditional room category. It’s all about knowing your options so that you can make the best possible selection for you and your group or family.
3. You Like the Idea of Having Kitchen Facilities in Your Room
One of the biggest benefits of staying in a Disney Deluxe Villa is that they come equipped with a kitchenette (Studio) or full kitchen facilities (one bedroom and up). This is one of the big differentiators compared to traditional hotel rooms at the Disney Deluxe Resorts.
Deluxe Villa kitchens generally feature granite countertops and under mount sinks. Studio kitchenettes usually feature a small refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, a pantry and a selection of plates and utensils. One-bedroom villas and up usually offer a full-size refrigerator, full-size oven and stovetop, kitchen cupboards and a dining area, along with all of the other items noted in the Studio description.
If you stay in any Disney Deluxe Villa you will definitely want to make a grocery stop on your way from the airport to Walt Disney World in order to stock up on food and beverages to take advantage of the kitchen facilities.
