A Luxury Escape to Walt Disney World Resort
A Luxury Walt Disney World Vacation:
For Luxury Travellers Who Love Both Disney and the Finer Side of Travel
There are plenty of us out there: travellers who love upscale resorts and experiences, but who also love the overall enjoyment of a well-planned Disney vacation. Fortunately, we don’t have to compromise when it comes to enjoying a luxury Walt Disney World vacation with some of the finer things that Disney has to offer.
With that in mind, I have put together this post with some of my top picks for enjoying a truly luxurious Walt Disney World vacation.
Luxury Walt Disney World: Where to Stay
First things first. To enjoy a luxury Walt Disney World vacation you will want to choose your accommodations carefully. Walt Disney World has a long list of Deluxe Resorts from which to choose (in fact, there are more Disney Deluxe Resorts than any other category), but within that category there are a few standout choices that I often recommend.
This list does not include Suites, which are available and which would be yet another level of Disney luxury, should you be so inclined.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Royal Palm Club, Theme Park View
A Theme Park View room in the Royal Palm Club at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa will definitely have you feeling the luxury side of Disney. This Club Level Concierge accommodation is located in an exclusive area within the main building of the resort and includes the extensive amenities that you receive with a Disney Club Level Concierge Room. Club Level extras include special keyed access to the Club Level area, a lounge with complimentary food and drinks (changed regularly throughout the day), access to Club Level Concierge personnel (even before you arrive), nightly turndown service and much more.
These are very special accommodations located within the Crown Jewel of all Walt Disney World Resort hotels.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Atrium Club or Tower Club, Theme Park View
For luxury travellers who prefer the more historic appeal of Disney’s Contemporary Resort across Seven Seas Lagoon from the Grand Floridian, the Atrium Club or Tower Club rooms with Theme Park View offer an exceptional and exclusive vacation experience. You will receive the same special Club Level benefits as mentioned above, with the added bonus of spectacular views of Seven Seas Lagoon and the nightly Happily Ever After fireworks from Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park, from these 12th and 14th floor rooms.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, Bora Bora Bungalow
For something a little different and even more exclusive, a Bora Bora Bungalow at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is arguably the most desirable accommodation in all of Walt Disney World Resort. With nightly rates approaching US$3,000, these spacious standalone bungalows are located over-the-water on Seven Seas Lagoon.
Each bungalow features two bedrooms, a full kitchen, laundry, a spacious family room, two full bathrooms and your own private splash pool on your sun deck. These are a personal favourite of mine and you can read a more detailed review about the Disney Bora Bora Bungalows in this post.
Luxury Disney: Where to Dine
There is no shortage of restaurants at Walt Disney World, but there are a precious few that are on my personal list of must-try Deluxe dining. Here is a selection of a few options that should be considered as part of your luxury Disney vacation.
Victoria and Albert’s
Victoria and Albert’s in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is the undisputed leader when it comes to haute cuisine at Walt Disney World. This elegant dining establishment has been a AAA Five Diamond Award recipient since 2000 and features three levels of services. Menus change seasonally and it is one of the only Walt Disney World restaurants with a dress code (dinner jackets and dress pants for men; cocktail dress, skirt and blouse or pant suit for women) and an age limit (no children under 10).
Located at the top of Disney’s Contemporary Resort is the upscale dining of California Grill. This Disney Signature Dining establishment has been very popular ever since it opened, and with good reason. The menu features a great range of Pacific-inspired dishes, including hand-rolled sushi and and excellent wine list featuring over 300 selections — most of which are California wines.
Over at Disney Springs, The Boathouse is a waterside establishment that offers an excellent menu of seafood and other popular dishes. Billed as Surf and Turf, Florida style, The Boathouse has fresh seafood, a raw bar, along with premium steaks and a children’s menu with something to appeal to just about any taste. There is also a great selection of tasty craft cocktails as well.
Located in the France Pavilion at Epcot, Monsieur Paul offers a cozy and refined French dining experience with a pleasant view of Epcot’s World Showcase as a backdrop. Dishes here are sophisticated French style classics, with a few twists to keep things fresh and inviting. The menu features everything from duck and salmon to beef tenderloin.
Luxury Disney: VIP Experiences and Notable Character Dining
Private VIP Tour
When you want the red carpet treatment for Disney’s theme parks on your Walt Disney World vacation, there’s nothing better than booking a Private VIP Tour. This private luxury experience will cater to a group of up to 10 guests with one guide and basically allows you to chart your own course through any or all of Walt Disney World’s theme parks. Enjoy fast entrance to attractions, VIP seating for parades and shows and the knowledge and guidance of your personal VIP guide.
Cruise Disney Waterways on the Grand 1 Yacht
If you enjoy cruising in style, consider hiring the Grand 1 Disney Yacht, which is based out of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. The Grand 1 is a 52-foot SeaRay that can accommodate up to 18 people as it charts a course around Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake. You have options to wine and dine, watch fireworks and many other special cruise variations. You can even hire a butler to attend to your party during the cruise. This is a favourite must do of mine and it is highly recommended as a fun and unique VIP luxury Disney experience.
Perfectly Princess Tea
If you have a little Princess (or Prince) in your party aged three to nine, they can take part in the truly luxurious royal tea featuring music, storytelling and dining. Sandwiches, cakes and “tea” are included, along with a suite of very special gifts and a VIP visit from Princess Aurora herself. This courtly tea takes place in the Garden View Tea Room of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for any young Princess.
Cinderella’s Royal Table
While Character Dining may not be a luxurious endeavour, the gathering of Disney Princesses at Cinderella’s Royal Table is definitely one worth mentioning. There is something truly magical for any Disney devotee about dining inside of Cinderella Castle. While the food here is average good, the real show is meeting five Disney Princesses all at one time and getting individual time with each one of them. Cinderella will greet you to her home as you enter the Castle and then four additional Disney Princesses will circulate throughout the room as you eat your meal, stopping at each table to share individual time with their guests.
Truly a magical experience that is VIP quality for any fan of Disney Princesses.
Luxury Disney: Rest and Relaxation with Style
For many guests, a luxury vacation includes time at a world class spa facility. Walt Disney World has two full-service spas: one in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and one at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. Both of these Senses Spas are premium facilities offering a full range of body treatments, massages and more — including couples activities. The ideal way to unwind as part of your luxury Walt Disney World vacation.
Another great way to unwind is to kick back and relax poolside in your own private cabana. These VIP cabanas — most notably at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort — allow you to relax and unwind next to one of the premier pools available at select Disney Deluxe Resorts. These cabanas include all the bells and whistles, such as loungers, chairs, a mini fridge, fan, television, phone, plush towels and much more. Of course, food and beverage service is also available to complete your full relaxation experience.
Golf at Disney’s Palm or Magnolia Courses
Walt Disney World has several championship golf courses, but the two top courses are Disney’s Palm and Magnolia Courses. Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course is the longest of all Disney courses and is rated four stars by Golf Digest. Disney’s Palm Golf Course is also four-star rated and is operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management. No matter where you choose to tee it up, you’ll hit your stride on one of these stunningly beautiful and challenging Disney courses.
