My Interests and Activities
My outside interests are a big part of who I am and I enjoy writing about them and sharing thoughts and ideas with others who share similar interests. This part of my website focuses on my top four favourite outside interests and activities:
Disney Travel and Just About All Things Disney
Can you recall your very first memory? For me, the first memory that I can really remember is standing out front of the entrance gate at Disneyland Park in California. I was four-years-old at the time and I had no idea of the impression that Walt Disney was about to have on the rest of my life. From parks and resorts to business strategy, I am big fan of all things Disney. Read More.
BBQ Over Hardwood Heat
Just about everyone loves good old fashioned barbecue. For me, nothing says barbecue like foods cooked over hardwood heat (I do own a gas grill, but it is rarely called into action). While my bbq story started with Southern BBQ (my own blend of Texas BBQ and BBQ in the various Carolinas styles) it has since grown to include Brazilian Barbecue, Hawaiian Barbecue and a wood-fired brick oven for pizzas and much more. Snowboarding
It’s pretty hard to imagine living in Canada and not enjoying at least one winter sport. Fortunately for our family, we all enjoy getting out on our snowboards and riding the season away each and every weekend. My daughter Amelia loves snowboarding so much that she proudly declared that winter is her favourite season. Read More.
Guitars and Songwriting
I have been playing and writing music since I was 14 years old. Now, my daughter is following in my footsteps and has been writing songs since she was three. She was a finalist in the first songwriting contest she entered (in 2015, age seven) and looks to be following in her dad’s footsteps with her passion for songwriting, performing and playing guitar. At one point in my life (while I was running Cedar Trail Music) I owned 22 guitars. I have pared that number down over the years and currently have a coveted collection of guitars, a mandolin and a Koa wood ukelele that I picked up in Hawaii a couple of years ago.
