Ghost Host: A Haunted Mansion Cocktail
A Signature Vodka Cocktail Inspired by Disney’s Haunted Mansion
Creating a signature cocktail inspired by Disney’s Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World could have gone a number of ways. The ghost host is a vodka-based cocktail with elements inspired by the attraction itself. From the lavender that approaches a purple hue, to the crushed ice to represent the “cold running chills,” this is a refreshing vodka cocktail that you can enjoy any time (and it makes a great Halloween drink).
Ingredients
1.5 oz vanilla vodka (you can substitute regular vodka)
1 oz Lemoncello (or you can substitute fresh squeezed lemon juice)
2 oz lavender syrup (I use Monin Lavender Syrup)
1 fresh lavender spring for garnish
Lemoncello is an Italian lemon liqueur that works well in this drink. It is made with lemon zest and usually has a vodka base, so it’s ideal for the Ghost Host. Note that if you substitute fresh squeezed lemon juice you may want to add a tiny bit of simple syrup or sugar, to compensate for the inherent sweetness of the Lemoncello and if you like a sweeter drink.
But the real key to the cocktail is the lavender syrup. The resulting color is a purplish pink shade as a bid of a nod to the famous purple wallpaper inside the Haunted Mansion. It appears more pink in these photos, but it’s more of a cloudy purple — or almost even a cloudy gray, which is what you’re going for.
Finally, the fresh lavender sprig is the ideal adornment to finish off the cocktail. Not only does it accompany the lavender syrup, but lavender is believed to ward off evil spirits, so it will ensure that only grim grinning ghosts surround you while you enjoy this drink.
I create signature cocktails inspired by Disney Parks and attractions. Be sure to check for more in this blog and reach out if you have an attraction that you would like me to work on.
